Maruti Rubber Group of Industries has successfully manufactured and supplied a comprehensive, integrated joint-waterproofing system for the landmark Indore Metro Rail Project (Package IN-05R) in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Executed by the HCC-TPL Indore Metro Joint Venture (Hindustan Construction Company – Tata Projects LimitedJV), this critical infrastructure segment is located opposite the Indore Airport.To secure the underground and elevated concrete joints against severe groundwater pressure, Maruti supplied a synchronized, multi-product toolkit: ISI-Marked PVC Water Stop Seals (230x8mm), swellable Bentonite Bars, specialized Water Stop Primers, and Heating Blades for flawless on-site fusion splicing.

Challanges

The project zone opposite the Indore Airport features complex subterranean civil works prone to high groundwater tables. Heavy hydrostatic pressure forces water through cold joints and construction cracks, risking long-term rebar corrosion. Improperly joined or overlapping PVC water stops are the leading cause of joint leaks in metro tunnels. The HCC-TPL JV team required specialized tools to ensure strong, seamless, and uncompromised continuous seals along extensive concrete pours.

Working with a premier joint venture like HCC-TPL means navigating intense quality control and strict adherence to government transit specifications. Every single component from the heavy PVC strip to the chemical primer had to pass rigid physical testing parameters.

Solution

Maruti provided a robust, dual-protection defense. Our heavy-duty 230 x 8mm Ribbed PVC Water Stop forms an initial mechanical barrier that stops high-pressure water tracking. Behind it, the 10 x 10mm Bentonite Swell Bar acts as an active failsafe. Upon coming into contact with any trace water, the bentonite expands significantly to choke off and completely seal micro-fissures within the concrete joint. Maruti supplied tailored PVC Water Stop Heating Blades alongside a high-tack Water Stop Primer. The heating blades allowed site engineers to perform clean, professional thermofusion welding of the PVC profiles, creating a single, continuous, homogeneous joint boundary. The specialized primer ensured that the bentonite swell bars remained firmly fixed to the concrete faces, resisting dislodgement during intense concrete pouring.

Our 230x8mm PVC seals carry the trusted ISI Mark IS:15058/2002, proving exceptional durability under continuous structural deflection. Maruti provided unified compliance testing documentation for the entire waterproofing toolkit (covering tensile properties, swelling rates of the bentonite bars, and primer bonding strength), allowing HCC-TPL to clear third-party quality inspections smoothly.
