About the Project

The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor is one of India's most significant railway infrastructure developments, designed to establish a high-speed rail connection between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The C3 Package, undertaken by Larsen & Toubro, involves the design and construction of a 135.450 km viaduct section, including three stations at Thane, Virar, and Boisar, along with tunnels, earth structures, and maintenance depot facilities.

PVC Water Stoppers form an important part of tunnel waterproofing systems, helping protect concrete construction joints against water ingress and supporting long-term structural durability.

Challenges

Tunnel infrastructure requires reliable waterproofing solutions capable of performing under demanding underground conditions. Construction joints are particularly vulnerable to water penetration, which can affect durability and increase long-term maintenance requirements.

The project demanded strict material quality control, adherence to applicable specifications, and a documented Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) to establish compliance before implementation.

Solutions

The project documentation includes a revised Inspection and Test Plan for PVC Water Stoppers used in tunnel construction. The submitted ITP underwent engineering review and received a Notice of No Objection (NONO) from the project engineer on 29 September 2026.

Maruti Rubber's PVC Water Stopper range is designed to help prevent water migration through concrete joints, support watertight construction, and improve the service life of underground infrastructure.

The documented approval demonstrates the importance of structured quality assurance and technical compliance in high-speed railway construction. The supplied documents establish ITP acceptance, but do not independently confirm a Maruti Rubber supply order for this specific project.
