Maruti Rubber Group of Industries has successfully manufactured and supplied high-performance Maruti Drain Drainage Composites for the critical Shujalpur Bypass Road Project in Madhya Pradesh. Executed by the prominent infrastructure development firm Apex Structure Private Limited, this essential highway development bypasses congested urban corridors to streamline heavy commercial transit. Maruti’s advanced sub-surface drainage composites were deployed along retaining walls, underpasses, and embankment structures to prevent water logging, safeguard subgrade soils, and ensure long-term pavement durability.

Challenge

Bypass roads feature massive earthen embankments, underpasses, and retaining walls that are highly vulnerable to rainwater infiltration. Trapped sub-surface water creates heavy hydrostatic pressure behind retaining structures and softens the subgrade soil, leading to potholes, asphalt cracking, and structural shifting. In typical road construction, traditional gravel or aggregate drains quickly become choked and clogged over time due to the migration of fine silt and soil particles carried by flowing water. Once clogged, traditional drainage layers fail, requiring expensive and disruptive highway repairs.

Road infrastructure projects like the Shujalpur Bypass move rapidly across extensive terrain. Delivering and installing conventional, bulky aggregate stone layers requires hundreds of truck trips, heavy on-site machinery, and massive manual labor, which slows down the project footprint.

Solution

Maruti supplied its specialized Drainage Composites, which combine a high-flow dimpled plastic core with a bonded non-woven geotextile filter. This integrated system provides a high-capacity vacuum-like pathway for water. It rapidly intercepts and channels subsurface water away from the structural backfill, permanently relieving hydrostatic pressure and keeping the road foundation dry. The integrated geotextile layer of the Maruti Drain composite is engineered with precise pore sizing. It acts as an optimal mechanical filter that permits water to pass freely into the drainage core while blocking fine soil particles and silt. This self-cleaning filtration mechanism ensures the Shujalpur Bypass retains an uncompromised, free-flowing drainage network for decades.

Maruti Drain Drainage Composites are exceptionally lightweight and supplied in compact, high-coverage rolls. One single roll replaces several truckloads of traditional gravel drainage layers. This drastically cut down freight logistics for Apex Structure Private Limited, minimized on-site storage footprints, and allowed rapid, simple manual installation that kept the fast-paced highway project ahead of schedule.
