Maruti Rubber Group of Industries has successfully manufactured and supplied high-grade 250 Micron HDPE Sheets for the critical P25 Panipat BOOT Package at the IOCL Panipat Refinery in Panipat, Haryana. Commissioned by global infrastructure leader L&T Energy Hydrocarbon with civil execution carried out by Mohangarh Engineers & Construction Company, this strategic expansion scales up India's core energy processing capabilities. Maruti's robust high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets were deployed as a specialized damp-proof and chemical-resistant liner, safeguarding underground concrete infrastructure against aggressive petrochemical subsoil environments.

Challanges

Refinery foundations face constant exposure to underground moisture mixed with harsh petrochemical runoffs, chemical effluents, hydrocarbons, and aggressive soil alkalis. Standard plastic lining sheets quickly degrade, crack, or dissolve under sustained exposure to fuels and industrial chemicals. During heavy-duty civil works under the BOOT package, the moisture barrier is subjected to harsh site conditions. Heavy structural foot traffic, sharp aggregate bases, and the placement of heavy steel reinforcement rebars by Mohangarh Engineers’ teams can easily puncture or tear flimsy plastic liners, compromising the entire barrier system.

Working within an IOCL refinery under an EPC giant like L&T Energy Hydrocarbon means zero tolerance for material deviations. The HDPE sheets had to pass rigorous material property audits, checking for absolute consistency in thickness, chemical resistance, and mechanical durability.

Solution

Maruti formulated these 250 Micron HDPE sheets using 100% premium virgin high-density polyethylene resins. This advanced material configuration is chemically inert, providing absolute resistance against hydrocarbons, oils, and chemical contaminants. It ensures the structural foundation remains dry and shielded from chemical corrosion for decades. Despite a thin profile of 250 microns, Maruti’s sheets are engineered with multi-layer co-extrusion technology. This processes the polymer to achieve exceptionally high tensile strength, superior tear propagation resistance, and excellent dart impact resistance, allowing it to withstand the toughest on-site handling without a single breach.

Every batch supplied by Maruti underwent strict quality control in our testing labs to verify uniform 250-micron thickness and material density. We provided fully traceable batch test certificates alongside the consignment, ensuring smooth, immediate technical approvals from L&T and IOCL project inspectors.
