The stretch was part of the old NH 5 and is now part of the renumbered National Highway 16 (NH 16), which connects Chennai and Kolkata along the east coast of India. The project includes various structures such as a major bridge, nine minor bridges, six flyovers, one overpass, and 20 underpasses.

Challenges
The project encountered issues such as weak sub-grade soil with low bearing capacity, high risk of pavement instability during the 6-laning, potential differential settlement from heavy truck traffic on NH-5, and erosion in certain areas, particularly during the monsoon.

Maruti Geogrid effectively strengthened the subgrade by improving load distribution, providing lateral support, and minimizing differential settlement under heavy traffic. It also accelerated construction by reducing fill requirements and enhancing compaction. Additionally, the geogrid improved slope stability and soil interlocking, which helped significantly reduce erosion.
