About Project

A four-lane flyover project is planned for the 3.35 km stretch of NH-566 from MES College Junction to Bogmalo Junction. The project also includes a 1.22 km, four-lane vehicular underpass at Queeny Nagar Junction and will be completed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.

Challenges

Heavy Dynamic Loads from Highway Traffic: Flyovers on national highways experience constant heavy vehicular movement, including trucks, trailers, and buses. The bearing materials had to withstand repeated compressive loads and dynamic forces.

High Vibration and Structural Movement: Long-span flyovers require flexible bearing systems that can absorb vibrations, minor rotations, and thermal expansion without compromising structural integrity.

Coastal Climate Exposure: Goa’s coastal climate introduces High humidity, Saline air, Intense rainfall, Continuous UV exposure. Materials used in the superstructure needed strong resistance to corrosion, ozone, and weathering.

Long-Term Durability Under EPC Standards: EPC-mode projects demand materials that meet strict performance standards, as contractors are responsible for lifecycle reliability during the project warranty period.

Our Solutions

High Load-Bearing Capacity: The EPDM pads provided stable, uniform load transfer between the deck and pier caps, preventing stress concentration in critical support zones.

Superior Vibration & Shock Absorption: The pads effectively absorbed vehicle-induced vibrations, protecting the flyover structure from long-term fatigue and minimizing noise transmission.

Exceptional Weather, Ozone & Salt-Air Resistance: EPDM is highly resistant to Coastal moisture, Salt corrosion, UV radiation, Temperature fluctuations making it ideal for infrastructure near the Arabian Sea.

Accommodates Movement & Expansion: The flexibility of EPDM allowed the pads to support Thermal expansion, Minor rotations, Structural deflections ensuring long-term performance under varying conditions.

Impact & Results

The EPDM Rubber Pad played a crucial role in:

  • Ensuring stable and durable bearing support for the 4-lane flyover
  • Enhancing vibration control, improving overall ride quality and structural lifespan
  • Withstanding Goa’s harsh coastal climate, ensuring long-term reliability
  • Supporting smooth progress under EPC delivery timelines
  • Improving safety and structural resilience for both the flyover and underpass sections

By delivering robust elastomeric solutions, Maruti Rubber Group of Industries helped ensure the flyover meets modern highway standards.
