Maruti Rubber Group of Industries has successfully manufactured and supplied heavy-duty Technical Textile Grids (Geogrids) for the major Flyover Package 1 Project along the Haridwar Bypass Padartha in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Procured through Z-Tech (India) Limited and executed on-site by SPS Construction India Private Limited, this critical infrastructure development is centered around the Hot Mix Plant at Village Sarai (Chainage No. 5+700). Maruti’s high-tensile geogrids were deployed to reinforce sub-base soils and mechanically stabilize the high-load approach embankments for the new flyover network.
Challenge
The Haridwar bypass region near Village Sarai features alluvial and fluvial soil profiles due to its proximity to the Ganges basin. These soft, weak subgrade soils have low shear strength and are highly prone to deep-seated settlement, rutting, and lateral shifting when subjected to heavy highway embankments. Positioned right next to a busy Hot Mix Plant, the flyover approach roads at Chainage 5+700 face an continuous onslaught of exceptionally heavy industrial traffic, including multi-axle dump trucks carrying hot bitumen mixes and raw aggregates. This high-frequency axle loading can cause rapid structural fatigue and premature asphalt cracking.
Flyover approach walls and retaining earth (RE) structures require soil reinforcement materials that exhibit minimal long-term creep and exceptional tensile stiffness. Both Z-Tech (India) Ltd. and SPS Construction mandated rigorous material validation to meet National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) engineering standards.
Solution
Maruti’s Technical Textile Geogrids were rolled out directly over the prepared subgrade to act as a powerful soil-stabilization layer. The open aperture grid structure creates a robust mechanical interlock with the aggregate base rocks. This interlocking effect confines the soil particles and prevents lateral movement, transforming a weak soil bed into a highly rigid, stable platform. Our high-modulus geogrids provide uniform structural reinforcement across the entire flyover ramp. By distributing intense vertical wheel loads horizontally over a wider surface area, the geogrid drastically lowers subgrade stress. This structural load distribution minimizes differential settlement and protects the asphalt from reflective cracking, guaranteeing a long, maintenance-free pavement life.
Maruti manufactured the Technical Textile Grids using high-tenacity, polymer-coated yarns engineered for high dimensional stability. Every batch underwent strict tensile testing to ensure zero structural distortion under heavy tension. We supplied comprehensive quality assurance paperwork and batch certificates, ensuring immediate, smooth clearances during third-party structural inspections.
