The Peace Creek Solar PV Park is a utility-scale 55.4-megawatt (MW) AC clean energy facility spanning 422 acres in Bartow, Polk County, Florida.
Developed and owned by Tampa Electric Company (TECO), the solar installation utilizes 544,692 panels to generate enough clean electricity to offset approximately 78,137 tons of carbon dioxide annually and power over 8,400 homes.
To maximize power output across the changing angles of daylight, the facility utilizes advanced single-axis racking and tracker technology. To anchor this sprawling matrix of photovoltaic panels tightly to the rotating framework, specialized aluminum mid and end clamps manufactured by Maruti Techno Rubber were deployed as the primary structural fasteners.
Challenges
Subtropical Climate Exposure: Located in Central Florida, the Peace Creek facility must endure intense environmental forces, including heavy seasonal rainstorms, high humidity, and extreme wind-uplift pressures from tropical weather corridors.
Repetitive Tracking Strain: Because the modules pivot continually on single-axis trackers to track the sun, the mounting components are subjected to ongoing dynamic loads and structural vibrations. Over time, these cyclic movements threaten to loosen standard hardware, which could lead to panel slippage or stress-induced micro-fractures in the solar cells.
Corrosion and Environmental Fatigue: Decades of exposure to heavy UV radiation and persistent atmospheric moisture risk causing galvanic corrosion if incompatible metals interface directly between the racking chassis and the panel boundaries.
