The Durrance Solar PV Park is a utility-scale 60.1-megawatt (MW) AC (70 MW Peak) clean energy facility sprawling across approximately 463 acres of agricultural land in Mulberry, Polk County, Florida.

Developed and operated by Tampa Electric Company (TECO) as the fourth phase of its historic solar expansion strategy, the installation generates enough clean electricity to power more than 11,000 households.

To maximize power conversion throughout changing angles of daylight, the plant deploys automated single-axis solar tracking networks. To firmly anchor the massive field of photovoltaic panels to these dynamic tracking tracks, high-quality, corrosion-resistant aluminum mid and end clamps manufactured by Maruti Techno Rubber were utilized across the mounting rails.

Challenges

Tropical Storm Vulnerability: Situated in West Central Florida's severe weather zone, the Durrance project must endure intense environmental forces, including high-velocity tropical storms, persistent humidity, and severe wind-uplift pressures.

Continuous Tracking Fatigue: Single-axis tracking mechanisms cause the vast array to pivot continuously following the sun. This daily operational movement subjects structural fasteners to non-stop dynamic loads, structural twisting, and vibrations that threaten to loosen traditional hardware, risking frame misalignment or cell micro-fracturing.

Long-Term Environmental Degradation: Decades of exposure to heavy UV radiation and persistent atmospheric moisture create a high risk of galvanic corrosion if incompatible metals directly touch between the tracking frameworks and module frames.

Solution

Industrial-Grade Clamping Integrity: Precision-molded aluminum mid and end clamps by Maruti Techno Rubber deliver excellent structural stability across the array. The heavy-duty mid clamps securely bridge adjacent panels, while the rugged end clamps anchor outer boundaries firmly against high wind drag.

Galvanic Protection and Toughness: Extruded from a high-tensile aluminum alloy, Maruti’s components ensure uniform load distribution without fatiguing under persistent thermal shifts. The inert material composition prevents destructive galvanic oxidation at metal contact loops, ensuring multi-decade asset lifespan.

Optimized Tracker Integration: Seamless physical compatibility between Maruti's fasteners and the single-axis tracking profiles allowed field crews to rapidly lock down modules with strict torque uniformity. This tight integration ensures the multi-row solar fields safely navigate daily rotations well within strict structural safety boundaries.
